所謂無塵室乃是為了控制室內空氣中浮游粉塵之數量、溫濕度、振動、噪音以及室內壓力等，而設置的空間，而無菌室是上述無塵室將室內空氣中的細菌及病毒及生物粒子再加以控制的空間。為了保護關鍵作業，必須提供特殊的當地清潔區域。 它需要應用空氣淨化設備（例如，安裝在天花板上的層流單元），該淨化設備在清潔區域提供具有H14或更高過濾等級的單向垂直氣流。
